  • Raising the bar
There hasn’t been much time to celebrate her accomplishments, which continue to build up.
  • ‘Our facility has become, hands down, the worst we compete on’
Carroll’s athletic stadium, I’ve been told, once stood as a marvel of western Iowa. When the State baseball tournament was being held next door at Merchants Park, eyes would gaze over at the football and track complex with amazement.

The agony of defeat has only motivated Johnny Case.

  • Basketball players Slam at the Graham

  • Coaching Change
Like most freshmen, it seemed just a matter of time before Randy Bissen was able to get his shot at playing varsity. Unlike most freshmen, Bissen surprised many with his talents, despite the fact that in three years he hadn’t scored a single point for the Carroll High Tigers.

  • Having a ball in the winter
Seeing local interest dwindle in the game he loves and is now his profession, Taylor Ostrich decided now was the right time to try and do his part. Ostrich, a Carroll High alum and 34th round MLB draft pick of the Kansas City Royals back in June, hosted a two-day youth baseball camp at The Cage in Breda last Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • Merchants season approaching
Baseball season is right around the corner and the Carroll Merchants are looking to make a splash this summer in their first full season in Carroll. The club has made a multitude of changes from last season in hopes of putting forth a better product on the field.
  • Thanks for the memories: A bid farewell, Carroll
I’ll never forget the first time I received a call from a 712 area code. I had never seen a 712 area code. So obviously I ignored it, but a voicemail — a lengthy one at that — came through. As I put the phone up to my ear, an unfamiliar voice carried out a message that would ultimately change the trajectory of my life and my career for the next three years.
